Why should you opt for professionally printed photos through your photographer when you can do it on your own for a fraction of the price?
I’m so glad you asked. Because there actually is a very good reason to print your photos through your professional photographer.
To give you a greater understanding of this, though, I’m going to back up a little bit. Because honestly, just talking about the tactical pieces of it doesn’t give you the information and understanding that I really think you deserve.
Personally, I know that when you invest in a photo session with me, you’re not doing it solely to get a quick updated photo for your holiday card. Sure, we’ll capture a family photo that you can use on your holiday card during your session, but that’s not your ultimate goal when thinking about the outcome of your family photo session.
When you hire me as your Raleigh family or newborn photographer, you’re doing so because you want the heart and soul of your family preserved. Whether this season is bubbling over with joy or peppered with a healthy dose of overwhelm and exhaustion, you know there’s beauty in it.
You know that underneath it all there’s something well worth documenting.
It’s heartfelt and real and shaping your family day by day.
It is your LEGACY.
And when it comes to preserving your legacy, I believe that I owe it to you to do so in a way that goes beyond your hard drive and cloud storage.
Sure, you can go print them off yourself.
But these are images with SOUL. They are images with HEART. These are the images that will one day tell of your LEGACY.
And because of that, I also believe that these images deserve to be displayed and preserved with the utmost care and thoughtfulness.
I used Shutterfly here, but you could insert the name of any non-professional lab. Whether it be Target, Costco, Walgreens or anywhere in between, this point is still valid.
When you choose to print your photos through a lab that isn’t a professional lab, you’re sacrificing a lot. Not only are the colors likely not accurate, but the longevity in the print isn’t the same.
Whereas with a professionally printed photo, I can guarantee the colors and quality will not fade over time, I can’t say the same for printing your photos elsewhere.
When you choose to forego printing your images professionally through your photographer, you’re risking discoloration and the fading of colors over time in your images.
Personally, I believe that the details and colors in your images are part of your story, and so, they should be printed professionally in a way that will tell your story with the same accuracy 20 years from now that they do today.
I believe they should be preserved in a manner that will not wither away over time.
Your legacy will not fade with time, and neither should the images that tell of it.
Lastly, if you’re working with me to document your family or newborn photos, I am operating under the assumption that you care a lot about your photos.
And if you’re investing a significant amount in your photos because you care so much, I owe it to you to make sure they’re preserved in a way that stands the test of time.
After all, what’s the point of making a significant investment only to see the investment fade over time? It doesn’t seem right to me, and so, as your photographer, I want to make sure that doesn’t happen.
All in all, it matters where you print your photos. If the photos are important to you; if they tell of your story and your legacy and you want to be able to pass them down for generations to come, the additional investment in professionally printed photos is well worth it.
