These Apex in-home family photos were everything I dreamed they would be. And maybe a little bit more if I’m being honest. This was my third time working with this family of four, so I knew walking into it that they would bring the energy for me.
I first met them last Spring when I photographed their maternity session before their youngest daughter was born. About a month later I photographed their newborn session after baby Huxley was born. Both sessions were amazing, so I knew to expect nothing less for this session.
Before their in-home family session, Stephanie and I Facetimed so that I could assess the light in their house and let her know which rooms we were most likely to use for their photo session. We also texted back and forth about wardrobe options, so when picture day arrived, all of us were ready and confident in what was happening!
As many of you know, I prep a lot for each session. While I was brainstorming ideas for this family’s photos, I was thinking a lot about what in our lives communicates comfort. You see, to me, family is comfort. So, in my images, I try to communicate that.
One of the things that came to mind for me was the idea of being cozy and comfortable in bed. And voila! The idea of the girls playing in the sheets while Tre and Stephanie threw the sheets over them was born. I texted Stephanie to give her the heads up, and she was all in!
And I’m so glad she was, because those photos are some of my personal favorites ever.
Take a look through these in-home family photos and soak in the joy and comfort. There’s a lot of it to be found!
