This family of three photo session was so laid back and so much fun. The Cockrell family will be expanding to become a family of four this spring, so it was really special to be able to document them in the season of life they’re in right now before things change!
This session turned out to be one of my favorites from last fall. It’s so energetic and full of life, connection and love.
The one thing I’ve noticed that creates this kind of vibe in a family photo session is not forcing it.
What do I mean by that?
What I mean is not forcing your kids to do things they’re not feeling. Don’t repeatedly tell them to look at the camera, sit still or put their arm here or there. The truth is that that’s not my style of family photography anyway!
If you show up ready to relax and love on your people, I promise I’ll take care of the rest.
There will be lots of running, spinning, hugging and nuzzling, and we’ll do it all in a way that makes everyone comfortable. The last thing I want you to do is feel incredibly awkward while in front of my camera.
My goal is to create scenarios and interactions where the comfort of family is evident. We don’t do that by being awkward, carefully placing one hand here and holding static poses that show no connection or emotion.
And I think you’ll see that as you look through the Cockrell’s family session in this blog post!
