I’ll drive 30 minutes for a South Raleigh newborn session every single day if this is the goodness I’m privileged with photographing!
You all may remember Erich and Tiffany from their maternity session at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Needless to say, I was thrilled to also be able to photograph the beginning of this beautiful new stage of their life as well.
A Gender Surprise!
They didn’t know the sex of their baby before she was born, which I love. You may or may not know this, but that always holds a special place in my heart since we’ve done the same with our boys.
Tiffany said everyone thought it was a boy, so naturally, she was expecting her baby to a boy. And then she was blessed with a beautiful daughter – with a head full of hair!
As Erich said, when she was born, he completely forgot about the possibility of having a boy. And it’s so true. Once your baby arrives, you’re so thankful for them exactly as they are.
Gender Neutral Nursery
One of the biggest arguments I hear against keeping baby’s gender a surprise is not being able to plan. Specifically, you have to keep your baby’s nursery gender neutral.
And yes, you do. But you can also do it so beautifully, as evidenced by Erich and Tiffany’s work with Katherine’s nursery! And one of my favorite things about a gender neutral nursery is that so many of the pieces can be reused in other parts of your home once they’re no longer needed for a baby’s room.
Her nursery was neutral, yet still so elegant and well thought-out. But I don’t need to tell you that, because you’ll see its beauty throughout these photos.
Erich and Tiffany, thank you for trusting me to document this part of your story. It was an honor, and I hope you’ll treasure these photos of your daughter for many years to come!
