This Home Studio List Raleigh newborn session was my first session after returning from maternity leave! How did we end up in a Home Studio List home, you may ask? Well, let me tell you…
Shortly after McKenna booked this newborn session, she and her family sold their home and had plans to move into her parents’ house. She knew she didn’t want her newborn session to take place at her parents’ house, but she also knew they’d be out of their house by the time baby was born.
So I suggested we look into Home Studio List! If you’re unfamiliar with this service, you can basically rent out a home on our hourly basis for a photo session. The homes have been vetted by photographers, so you know they have good light and lend themselves well to photos.
McKenna looked over the listings I sent her and decided on this beautiful home in the Five Points neighborhood of Raleigh. And it did not disappoint! The home was beautiful, the light was gorgeous and the owner is actually an interior designer. So how could we go wrong? Not to mention, the owners were there during our session and were incredibly accommodating and kind.
I truly think you can make nearly any house with windows (which is usually all houses!) work for an in-home session if you’re working with a good photographer. That being said, this is such a great alternative if you’re adamant about not using your house or don’t want to clean it up for a session.
You get the cozy feel of an in-home session, and you’re pretty much guaranteed that the home will photograph well. So if you’re wanting to do in-home newborn photos or in-home family photos but don’t want to use your house, consider this option. I can promise you you’ll love it!
