Low key obsessed with these family photos at home in Raleigh. They’re filled to the brim with so many of my favorite things: joy, love, connection and light.
I originally worked with this family when they welcomed their third daughter last summer. It was one of my final newborn sessions before I went out on maternity leave to welcome my own two newborns!
Occasionally you’ll find that families are resistant to having two photo sessions done in their home within a year or two of each other. I was ecstatic to find that that wasn’t the case with the Rogers family!
To be honest, it should be the case with every family. Just because your photo session takes place in the same location doesn’t mean the photos look exactly the same.
You wear different outfits, your kids have grown and we can use different parts of your house. We can throw in a different activity or two to mix things up as well.
You probably aren’t resistant to going back to the same park or field you used last year for your family photos, so why should it be any different with your home?!
More on this another time before I get carried away though… 😉
I love incorporating elements of a family’s life into photo sessions at home. When Hayley originally filled out my questionnaire, she couldn’t think of anything really unique about her family and what they love doing together. She did mention that her girls loved playing dress up and putting her makeup on though. Cue me running with that!
After having a family dance party, the two older girls put on Mom’s dresses and twirled before getting their makeup and nails done by Mom and Dad.
It was the ultimate girl session, and I ate it up!
After receiving her gallery, Hayley left one of the sweetest reviews I’ve received. If you want to read the full review, you can see it on my homepage.
For now, I’m going to share an excerpt that I feel so deeply in my heart and want every parent to understand:
“I had put it off for a long time, thinking I should wait to lose the extra weight or get my home more in order but then I realized my kiddos were only getting older and changing every day so I booked Morgan. Well let me tell you… there was so much of our special family magic captured in each photo. I could hardly believe the detail and expressions she had managed to snap when scrolling through our final album. Even coming out of our session, I was wondering if it had gone well enough to have captured what I was hoping for. But once the sneak peaks came out I was in tears of joy with how they exceeded all my expectations!!!”
Circumstances will never be perfect. Your home will never be quite up to par. There will always be something about your appearance you wish you could change. But your kids are going to grow up regardless. Stop putting it off, and get the photos now before the opportunity passes you by. You will never regret it.
