This nautical nursery may not have been planned out for months like their firstborn’s nursery was, but it came together so well! And it made the perfect backdrop for Bryson’s newborn session.
I’ve found that this frequently tends to be the case with basically any child who isn’t the first, and I totally understand why.
With your first baby, you literally have nothing else to focus on. Yes, perhaps a job and buying all of the things you need for baby’s arrival. But as you learn, that’s really nothing compared to focusing on raising a child.
It’s easy to see why some of the things you found of the utmost importance the first time around (like decorating a nursery) end up on the back burner the second time around!
Tanner and Ashley found out the gender of their son during their pregnancy. When I asked Ashley if she was surprised at all when she found out she was having her second boy, her answer made me laugh.
She told me that she wasn’t surprised at all, because her husband’s family only makes boys. I, too, married into a family that only makes boys, so I can relate to this on so many levels.
Most women want a daughter, but as I told Ashley, having two brothers is so special.
I often wonder if my boys would play together as well as they do if my younger son would’ve been a girl.
The bond between brothers isn’t usually something that’s obvious from the get-go. There’s an adjustment period more often than not.
But as both siblings grow older and they find common interests, it’s such a beautiful thing to watch unfold. Of course there are numerous sibling squabbles every day, but beneath it all you know that they each have a best friend in one another. And that’s one of the sweetest things you could ask for as a parent!
Tanner and Ashley, thank you for trusting me to document this season of your life as you transition to a family of four!
