Where do I even start with this summer family photo session? It checked all of the boxes: gorgeous summer sunlight, beautiful people, at home, excellent wardrobe choices, candid moments in abundance…and a pool. A POOL!
I mean be still my heart, y’all.
Sara and I have been friends for about two decades now, which is crazy to say. We were college roommates, stood in each other’s weddings, had babies around the same time.. ya know… all of the things.
And her family has also been in front of my camera more than (or at least equal to) any other family I know. They trusted me when I was just starting out, and it means the world to me that they fit in a session while I was visiting from Raleigh.
They had just moved into their new house a few weeks before our session, so we kept the indoor photos to a minimum. These two are the king and queen of incredible renovations, and I can’t wait to see what they do with this home. You should see the past two homes they’ve renovated. Absolutely gorgeous.
We were still able to get plenty of photos around the house on the front porch, in the yard and in and around the pool. As a side note: definitely utilize your pool for a summer photo session if you have one! It’s such a fun way to mix things up.
Another reason I love this session? WARDROBE. While their outfits have a “warmer” season feel to them, they also don’t scream spring, summer or fall; other than the bathing suits, of course!
Everyone always wants photos in the fall, and I get it. The leaves are turning colors and it’s gorgeous. But I also think there’s something really beautiful and evergreen about photos that live on no matter what season it is.
So the next time you want to schedule a family photo session, consider a different season than fall. Or at least consider wardrobe choices that are more season neutral.
Kyle and Sara, thank you for giving me another opportunity to capture your beautiful family!! I love you guys and am so grateful for you!
don't miss
I may be slightly biased, but I adore all of your photos of the Hayden family.. from newborn to new home.
You’ve done a fantastic job capturing the love they have for over another.
Fondly,
“Aunt Becky”
