A TWIN newborn session, y’all! Oh my goodness! I was so excited when Kathleen reached out to me, because getting to photograph two newborn babies is twice the fun and sweetness.
Walt and Liam were born at 32 weeks and spent some time in the NICU before making their way home.
Walt weighed a couple pounds more at birth than his brother Liam and was able to come home earlier. Will and Kathleen said that phase was the hardest part, and I can absolutely see why.
I’m sure that having a baby (or babies) in the NICU is heart wrenching no matter what. But I can also imagine that knowing that your two babies are together provides a little bit of comfort.
Luckily, Liam made some huge strides right around his due date and was able to come home a few weeks after his brother!
Will and Kathleen both agreed that their boys were totally themselves throughout our session. Walt was so chill, y’all. I mean, he slept nearly the entire time. Liam wasn’t as interested in sleeping, but his cries didn’t faze his brother at all. It’s truly amazing what newborn babies can sleep through! 😂
Around the time that Liam settled down and went to sleep, Walt began to wake up. At one point Kathleen said, “this is our lives,” while smiling and soothing one of the boys back to sleep. And I’m sure that it is!
As I told her, though, at least they take turns! 😉
In all seriousness, though, I’m sure the newborn phase with twins is challenging. I found it nearly impossible with one baby, so I know I would’ve been a hot mess with two.
But I’m sure that as Walt and Liam grow, their bond will too. I don’t know how they could be anything other than best friends, and it will make the craziness of the newborn phase more than worth it.
Thank you, Will and Kathleen, for trusting me with this extra special season of your lives! You all were a true joy to work with, and I’m so grateful you chose me!
