This family of four newborn session with newborn baby Beckett and big sister, Emmy turned out so beautifully!
I almost always schedule newborn sessions around the time the light is best in the nursery, but this session was an exception to the rule. Jenny let me know that there was only one window in the nursery, but that the master bedroom got really great light.
So we planned it around the master bedroom instead, and it worked out perfectly! After snapping a few photos in Beckett’s rainbow nursery, we photographed the rest of his session in the master bedroom.
Many times this works out best anyway when there’s an older sibling involved. Toddlers, especially, want room to roam and roll and play. Many times a nursery doesn’t lend itself well to that – at least for the purpose of photos.
A bed, on the other hand, does! And some of my favorite photos of Emmy are of her playing and being herself while rolling around on the bed.
Toddlers are the most unpredictable humans on earth. Can I get an amen? You really never know what to expect from them. This is especially true after a new sibling has been added to the family.
As a parent, this can be stressful. You want a photo of the whole family. You want a photo of your new baby with their older sibling. I get it.
But let me assure you there is pretty much nothing I haven’t seen when it comes to toddlers during a photo session. And here’s the best part – we always get good photos with them!
So you can rest easy, mama. It only takes a split second of magic to get that photo, and we can make it happen no matter what kind of toddler behavior goes down. 😉
