This North Raleigh in-home newborn photo session was so fun! I always love newborn sessions a little extra when there are older siblings involved. Does it make the session a little more challenging? Yes. But does it also make the session way more fun? Also YES!
Big brother, Bennett, had tons of energy as most toddlers do. But that’s what I come to expect from toddlers during a photo session. So it was no surprise to me!
One of the things I love about in-home photo sessions is that there are always interesting, unexpected places to shoot. In the case of this newborn session, we started in the master bedroom. We then made our way to the nursery for a few shots, ventured downstairs to the play room, kitchen and finally to a sitting area at the front of their home.
I think this is one of the biggest things that photographers can miss in an in-home session: how to find the good spots! It’s not about using the most conventional rooms. It’s about finding the best light and being creative in using the space where it falls.
Good light and connection between people trumps a beautifully decorated bedroom with subpar lighting any day in my book.
