These extended family photos in Raleigh were just the sweetest! Hannah and I have been internet friends (is that a thing?) for a couple of years now. She and her family live in Colorado but are originally from North Carolina. So on a visit back to the east coast this summer, she scheduled an extended family session with me!
Hannah is also a family photographer, which is how we connected in the first place from across the country. Not only did I have so much fun photographing her family, but I had so much fun meeting her in person for the first time!
She’s now part of my photography mentoring program, and I’m so excited to be working her in that way as well.
When we first arrived for this session, is was pouring rain. I mean literally torrential downpours that we didn’t totally see coming, and it wasn’t going to stop for a solid hour and a half.
But Raleigh weather is weird. So we checked out the radar and saw that it wasn’t raining in one of my go-to locations 25 minutes away. Luckily, this group of eight was flexible and we all trekked over to the dry location.
And even more luckily, it actually was dry and never rained on us throughout the duration of our session!
While I’m always more than happy to reschedule in these situations, time was of the essence since Hannah and her family don’t live here. Their time in North Carolina was limited, and we had to make the best of it. And if you know Raleigh weather, you know that there was no guarantee that it wouldn’t rain throughout the remaining days of their trip!
So we pivoted, found a dry spot and it actually worked out beautifully!
I’m so thankful for this family choosing me to document multiple generations and for being so flexible and making this extended family session work!
