5 reasons you should book an in home session this summer

I know Fall is all the rage when it comes to family photos, but today I’m talking about 5 reasons you should book an in-home session this summer!

If I had to put my finger on the exact reason why fall family photos have become so popular, I would have two guesses. First, fall foliage! THE COLORS OMG WE LOVE THEM!! Right? And my second guess would be that it lines up so well with holiday card season.

And ok, I get it. But if you’re working with me, it’s for a much larger and deeper purpose than holiday cards. So that point is immediately null and void. And if you’re in it for the fall foliage, well, I cover that here shortly in one of the five reasons you should book an in-home session this summer…

5 Reasons You Should Book an In-Home Session this Summer

  1. It’s indoors!
It’s SWELTERING outside in the middle of summer. I get it. I don’t want documented memories of the sweat beads on my forehead while I swat mosquitoes in the middle of a field either. But we’re inside your home!! And the temperature is perfect there. Crank that AC to your desired temperature and get comfortable, because we won’t be sweating inside of your home!
  2. Your kids are out of school.
Scheduling a session on a weekday morning becomes much easier when you’re not worried about pulling your kids out of school for a couple of hours. Not to mention you don’t have to worry about working around all of the activities that inevitably start happening once school starts again in the fall. Why add another thing to your calendar this fall that can be taken care of earlier?
  3. Summer is a vibe.
Memories of summer immediately evoke images of dirt stained little feet, sun kissed skin and a melted popsicle dripping down an arm. While an in-home session is inside your home, there’s also an opportunity to step outside and lean into the season. In my opinion, there’s no season that encapsulates childhood more nostalgically or honestly than summer does. And if you want that nostalgia to be a player in your photos, summer is the season to capitalize on that.
  4. There’s no fall foliage inside your home!
I know fall is all the rage because FALL LEAVES! Colors! Yay! But guess what?! When we’re inside your home, the color of the leaves is totally irrelevant. The good news here is you’re off the hook! You don’t have to try to time your photos around peak foliage season, because it literally does not matter. The trees can be green, red, orange, yellow or totally bare, and the photos inside of your home will still be beautiful because of the incredible souls inside of the photo.
  5. Your photographer can serve you better.
Fall is the CRAZIEST season for most photographers. There’s always a mad rush for everyone to get a photo session in between September and November, and our calendars consequently become jam-packed.

While your photographer can likely produce magical images any month of the year, there’s undeniably more space for us to expand creatively outside of busy season. We can devote more time, energy and attention to you when you book your session during a non peak month of the year.

This almost always results in photos with more personalization and a deeper expression of who you are as a family unit. So forego the foliage this year, step inside your home and invite your photographer over before the fall rush.

Even if you’ve always defaulted to the outdoor fall session, maybe this is the year you switch things up and see just how good an in-home family session can be.
