If you haven’t heard the news yet, in 2023, I will be moving to doing in-home photo sessions only! This still includes newborn sessions as these sessions are always in home.
This is a shift I’ve felt compelled to make for a while now. I’ve resisted it, second guessed myself, worried that it would tank my business and ultimately put it off for almost a year now. But sometimes you can no longer deny the next move you’re supposed to make, which brings me to where I am today.
I’m still scared, literally sweating as I type these words and uncertain as to what things will look like moving forward. But I’m simultaneously confident that this is the right choice, and I’m so excited to officially be moving in this direction!
Here are the reasons I’ll be moving to exclusively photograph in-home family and newborn sessions moving forward.
This is THE biggest reason I’m doing this. I’m confident that my best work happens inside your home, and as your photographer, I owe it to you to give you my best every single time.
I’ve photographed enough in-home sessions at this point to see the difference in the level of comfort and connection my clients feel in their most familiar environment versus how they feel and open up in a public outdoor setting. In-home sessions almost always translate to better photos. While I could go on for days on this point, I’ll direct you to this blog post to read more in depth!
This means all Legacy (in-home family) and Newborn sessions will have an enhanced experience, with more hands on guidance, a larger client closet to access and more heartfelt, connected, honest photos as I focus my efforts more narrowly.
For the most part, a jack of all trades is rarely really excelling in anything, but rather providing mediocre work across the board. While I wouldn’t say I’m a jack of all trades photographer, by eliminating one of my offerings, I can excel more fully at what I am offering. So you can expect an uplevel in your final images.
Photographing families outside at sunset often means I have to leave my four young kids and my husband at one of the busiest, most chaotic times of the day in our house. There’s the handoff of the kids from myself to my husband or to our nanny and then to my husband, and he’s left to take care of dinner and bedtime alone. I won’t get into the weeds, but it’s a logistical nightmare.
In-home sessions take place on weekday mornings when there’s much less going on at home, and I feel so much more prepared to show up and create with my full self. I love what I do so much, but my family will always take priority over work, and I owe it to them to make this change to be the best mom and wife I can be. And in turn? This makes me a better photographer for you.
There’s a lot that went into this decision, and I hope you understand that everything I do in this business I do to serve you better. This change is no exception.
I’m so excited for this shift in my offerings, and I hope that you will join me in celebrating! I look forward to seeing you at home in 2023! 🙂
