Scott and Brie tied the knot in 2017, and they’re keeping the momentum up by adding a new family member in 2018! Talk about two exciting years in a row, right?!
Brie wanted to go in a different direction for her maternity photos and chose an urban setting as opposed to the fields and nature that you typically see in maternity sessions. Personally, I think it was such a fun choice! It’s always exciting to go against the grain and do something different.
The Historic District of Downtown Evansville has a unique look and feel that you can’t find anywhere else in our little city. The architecture of the old homes and the charm they bring to the brick streets is one of a kind. It almost transports you and makes you feel like you’re somewhere else, and it was so perfect for their session. We frolicked the streets together and talked all about babies and parenthood as we documented this special season of their lives.
Maternity sessions are sometimes seen as unnecessary, but it’s truly such a fleeting time in your life. I always aim to capture the connection between the soon-to-be parents, because I think it’s so important for the baby you’re carrying to be able to look back at those photos and see who you were before them. It’s important for them to be able to see the foundation that their family is built upon. It’s important for them to see and understand the love between you and the excitement and anticipation you felt just weeks before meeting them.
And while perfectly posed photos are beautiful in a different sense, the in between moments are where that connection is captured and most obviously seen and felt. And personally, I think that those moments are the most beautiful thing you can capture.
Scott and Brie, thank you for choosing me to document these moments for you and this season of your life before sweet baby Rhett arrives! I truly hope he’ll be able to look at these very photographs years from now and feel the love between his mom and dad.
