Telluride, CO has to be one of the most beautiful places in America. So naturally, having a wedding there is kind of incredible.
Jonathan and Mackenzie originally had plans to tie the knot back in Indiana, but eventually switched things up to have a small intimate ceremony in Telluride at San Sophia Overlook. And let me tell you – it did not disappoint!
They rented a gorgeous home in Mountain Village where they stayed with their parents and Mackenzie’s brother. So not only did they get to say “I do” in a beautiful place, but they were able to vacation with both of their families there! Not a bad deal, right?!
One of the things I love most about a small and intimate ceremony is how laid back and relaxed it is. There’s no rushing around; no coraling rowdy people or 1 million family members for photos. It’s stress free and joyful – just as a wedding day should be.
Mackenzie and Jonathan both got ready at the house in separate areas so that they wouldn’t see each other.
After getting completely ready, we headed outside for their first look. The leaves on the trees were a beautiful yellow that contrasted so beautifully with the blue sky and mountains behind them. If there’s a more beautiful place for a first look, I’ve yet to find it.
Mackenzie walked up to Jonathan, tapped him on the shoulder, and as he turned around it only took a few seconds for the tears to begin to fall. It was undoubtedly one of the most special moments of the day.
After exchanging gifts inside the house, we headed up to the ceremony location at San Sophia Overlook via the gondola.
It was a windy day, and when you’re standing on top of a wide open mountain you better believe that wind picks up a bit more! Suffice it to say, it was a tad chilly. But it’s hard to care when you’re getting married – and especially when you’re getting married with the views these two had.
Their ceremony was intimate, heartfelt and joyful. It was evidenced by the words they exchanged, the smiles on their faces and the tears that were shed.
After making it official and soaking up every last bit of the sunset for bride and groom photos, they spent the rest of the evening celebrating with their families at Allred’s. The restaurant is a quick walk from San Sophia Overlook and boasts the most beautiful mountain views.
Jonathan and Mackenzie, I could not be more grateful that you chose me to join you in Telluride to capture your wedding day. It was an incredible day, and I loved every second of being a part of it.
