Sometimes there are people that you just instantly click with. For me, Khristian and Tyler are two of those people.
I first met this happy couple last fall when we met for coffee to chat about their wedding. Khristian and I attended the same high school, although several years apart. Even though we didn’t attend at the same time, we still knew a lot of the same people.
Shortly after discussing our connections, I turned to Tyler to ask if he was also from Evansville. As it turns out, Tyler is from Carmi, Illinois. Now, this may not be a big deal to a lot of people, but literally 95 percent of my family lives in this very small town in Southern Illinois. I even lived there for the first 18 months of my life. Suffice it to say I was pretty jazzed about this unexpected connection.
So obviously, we hit it off immediately, and I was over the moon when they chose me to photograph their wedding day! Soon thereafter, we scheduled their engagement photos for March, which sounds like a reasonable time to do outdoor pictures. To our surprise – and dismay – it snowed about five inches the night before their scheduled session.
Khristian and I had talked a lot about her and Tyler’s wardrobe choices for their engagement photos (and she took my style guide very seriously which I LOVE!), so I knew that they were definitely going to have a spring vibe going. And as we all know, snow doesn’t exactly scream SPRING.
So we rescheduled for April, crossed our fingers and toes and prayed for good weather, and despite her crazy unpredictability this Spring, Mother Nature DELIVERED! She blessed us with an actual spring day – 60 plus degrees and sunshine – a true act of God as of late, I tell you.
I always look forward to engagement sessions, but because I knew how much thought and time Khristian had put into preparing for their photos, I was extra excited for this one. And as soon as we started their session I remembered why I admire these two so much.
Not only did they laugh and crack jokes the whole time with each other, they had me smiling and laughing behind the camera the entire time. It’s hard to do anything but smile when you’re around two people who radiate so much joy and happiness. And it’s also hard not to smile when you’re able to witness two people who are so obviously in love.
These two are the real deal – SO happy, SO joyful and SO SO SO in love. Khristian and Tyler, thank you to the moon and back for choosing me to document your love and happiness during this season of your lives. I can hardly wait until your wedding day in September!!

Morgan! This might be my favorite session of yours EVER. The light, her dress, the way they look at each other, it’s all so perfect! Beautiful work!
Oh this entire session radiates JOY!!😍
