Hi I’m Morgan! I’m a photography educator and Raleigh, NC newborn photographer and family photographer.

Meet Morgan

Reading Time: 4 minutes

I’m already going to have the pleasure of capturing this family’s third baby’s newborn photos in December, so imagine my delight when they wanted to document maternity photos as well!

Raleigh Lifestyle Maternity Session

With a four-year-old daughter and a son who will turn two shortly after baby’s arrival, I’m honestly impressed that they’re adding another one to the mix.

Why? Because my kids are almost exactly the same ages and most days I wonder how I could possibly survive if I had another human being to take care of.

In all seriousness, though, I know that this sweet family is going to thrive through the transition to becoming a family of five!

At-home family session

One of the reasons I love in-home newborn sessions is because you are at HOME. You’re in the place you’re most comfortable and have all of the things you could possibly need for yourself and for baby.

Another reason I love them, though, is because it makes it so much easier on any older siblings. And the same can be said for any session you do at home with your kids.

We all know that kids are notorious for acting up and deciding that photo session time is the perfect time to misbehave. Or is that just my kids?

Either way, I know from personal experience that it can be wildly stressful to be the parent of that child.

When you’re at home, though, your children are so much more comfortable because they’re in the environment that they’re used to. And if they act up and need a break, they can take one!

It almost always makes for a much smoother session, and this one was no exception.

Sparkler and Bonfire Photo Session

We started this maternity session on the front porch of this family’s home in Raleigh. If y’all couldn’t gather it from that last little section, I’m ALL FOR a session at home – and not just because it’s comfortable for everyone.

Capturing your family at this place you live your lives is so special and will be so incredibly valuable in the years to come.

I actually love it so much that I did it with my own family. And I love love LOVE the photos. There’s so much meaning behind each one for different reasons.

Back to the task at hand, though. After wrapping up in front of the house, we headed to their backyard where everyone roasted marshmallows for s’mores and played with sparklers.

Incorporating activities like this into your photo session is always a good idea. It gives everyone something to do, and in turn, I’m able to capture the most authentic version of you.

Because you’re not worrying about whether or not that angle I’m photographing you from is perfect or if one of your hairs is out of place. You’re just living and loving on your people, and I happen to be there to capture it.

Always a good idea, y’all. Always. Check out this session below and see what I mean!
