One of the first things I did after moving to Raleigh was give away a newborn photo session. I think it’s one of the best ways to connect with and serve the community that you’re getting acquainted with when you move to a new area!
Natalie and her family were the winners of the session, and they were an absolute dream. Before even meeting Natalie, I learned that she, her husband, Cameron and daughter, Elizabeth all moved to Raleigh after living in Indianapolis for a few years! What a small world, right?!
Baby Henry arrived a couple of weeks early, as Natalie warned might happen! And from my understanding, he made a statement with his rapid entrance into the world.
When Henry was 10 days old, I made my way up to North Raleigh for his lifestyle newborn session. Their home is nestled away in a beautiful neighborhood among pine trees and gorgeous homes – a picture perfect setting if you ask me.
Natalie’s parents were there when I arrived for their final day before heading back home. Her dad welcomed me inside, and as we chatted we realized that his brother is a professor at USI in my hometown in Indiana. As soon as he brought it up, I remembered that Natalie had shared that detail with me, but once again… SMALL WORLD!
We started their session off in Henry’s nursery before making our way to the other rooms in the house. Both Henry and big sister Elizabeth did incredibly well the whole time. One of the things I love about lifestyle sessions is that it allow younger children to be in an environment that’s familiar to them! It makes them more comfortable, and you can see that come through in the photographs.
When Elizabeth wasn’t in a few photos she would go to the playroom and hang out or occasionally pop back in to see what was going on – which happened to make for some really sweet and candid photos.
All in all, I’m so happy that the Davis family was my first newborn session in Raleigh. They were amazing to work with, so relatable, relaxed and kind. I hope you all enjoy scrolling through these newborn images as much as I enjoyed taking them!
