North Raleigh In-Home Newborn Session

Part of the reason I love a North Raleigh in-home newborn session is because it’s a super short drive for me. 😂 And then honestly, sometimes it’s really nice to make a longer drive and have time alone in the car. I’m just being honest, y’all!

At the beginning of Miss Ava’s session, her mom, Kara, apologized for all of the chaos. I laughed as I told her that their session was the least chaotic thing I’d done all week.

Believe me when I say a newborn session with a family of three feels like a walk in the park when you become accustomed to photographing newborn and family  sessions with energetic toddlers! I love the element of surprise that comes along with photographing older kids, but there’s also something very peaceful about a newborn session with just one baby.

Being a first time mom

That being said, I also know how it feels to be a first time mom. It can absolutely feel chaotic even when it doesn’t look like it from the outside. You’re adjusting to a whole new way of life, and it’s probably one of the most life altering experiences you’ve encountered thus far in life.

Why newborn sessions are long

But that’s precisely why I allot more time than I realistically need for a newborn session. Because things happen – whether you have one baby or this is your fourth. Kids are unpredictable and newborn babies are unpredictable, and we’re running on the baby’s schedule; not our own!

So if baby wants to eat a little longer than you anticipated or has a blowout or refuses to shut his or her eyes for photos, it’s all good.

Because I walked into your session already knowing we weren’t going to photograph your baby for the entire two hours. I planned for things to go a little sideways, so don’t stress out when they do. I promise we’ll still capture images you’re in love with.
